There are two common ways to backup your dicrectory via Zip or Tgz extention

Major differece in both is Tgz will directly crompress the directory into a folder
But in the case of Zip it will compress your directory info a .file extension
you have to re-extract that .flie extention file to get your data

Syntax : tar czf /path/FolderNameWhere2storeBackupFiles/nameofzip_`date +%Y_%m_%d`.tgz /path/Folder2Backup
Code Example 1 : tar czf /wpbackup/wp_backup_new_`date +%Y_%m_%d`.tgz /public_html/xyz.com
Syntax : tar czf /FolderNameWhere2storeBackupFiles/$(date +%y_%m_%d_%H_%M_html_nameofzip).zip /path/Folder2Backup
