STEP-1:
In settings.gradle file, add gradlePluginPortal() like- 
dependencyResolutionManagement {
    repositoriesMode.set(RepositoriesMode.FAIL_ON_PROJECT_REPOS)
    repositories {
        google()
        mavenCentral()
        gradlePluginPortal()
    }
}

STEP-2:
In gradle.properties file, at the end include the following line-
android.enableJetifier=true

STEP-3:
Sync
