#If you are using zsh and using tmux plugin then this solution is for you
#got to zsh tmux plugin config mine is located in
# ~/.oh-my-zsh/plugins/tmux/tmux.config
#change the line  that contains 
: ${ZSH_TMUX_CONFIG:=$HOME/.tmux.conf}
# to
: ${ZSH_TMUX_CONFIG:=$HOME/.config/tmux/tmux.conf}
#this points  my zsh tmux to load the config file in a diferent location
#: ${ZSH_TMUX_CONFIG:=$HOME/{the location of your tmux.conf}}
